【 About Chiangmai 】 ★ Chiangmai has a striking mountain backdrop, over 300 temples and a quaint historical aura. It's also a modern, friendly, internationally-flavoured city with much to offer the visitor - food, accommodation and shopping are all top quality and cheap, and the nights are relatively cool. Thailand's second-largest city and the gateway to the country's north was founded in 1296. You can still see the moat that encircled the original city. Doi Suthep, topped by one of Thailand's holiest wats, rises behind the city, providing a dramatic backdrop and fine views of the city.
【 About Chiangrai 】 ★ Chiangrai was founded in 1262 by King Meng Rai and was the first capital of Lanna Thai (Kingdom of a Million Rice fields). The province contains Thailand's northernmost point at Mae Sai which is well known for its crisp mountain scenery, and hilltribes. North Chiang Rai and falls within the region known as the Golden Triangle, the area where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge.
Itinerary
Day 1
Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Wat Phra That Doi Suthep - Meo hill-tribe village - Baw Sang & San Kamphaeng - Old Tower - Night Tour (L,D)
Take domestic flight to Chiang Mai in the morning; go to the biggest mountain of Chiang Mai and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. The beauty of Northern Thailand offers much different scenery than Bangkok. Then visit Meo hill-tribe village. There are plantations of golden poppy. After that, visit Baw Sang & San Kamphaeng, where you can purchase crafts hand made by the hill-tribes in Northern Thailand. At night, enjoy an authentic Thai style meal for dinner. Then, visit the local night market in Chiang Mai.

Day 2
Chiang Mai - Elephant Show - Orchid Garden - Queen’s Resort Palace (B,L,D)
In the morning, go to see an elephant show and performance, then enjoy elephant riding. Later see the special flower of Thailand - The Orchid Garden. There are many different kinds of orchids within the garden, which must be maintained at a certain temperature in order for the orchid to grow. After lunch, go to Chiang Rai and visit Queen’s Resort Palace. Chinese dinner at evening.

Day 3
Chiang Rai - Border of Thai & Burma - Golden Triangle - Boat Cruise - Opium Museum (B,L,D)
In the morning visit the border market town between Burma and Thailand of Mai Sai and have lunch at there. Visit the famous Golden Triangle at Mae Kok River and ride a boat to the border of Thailand and Laos. The Golden Triangle stands at the border of Thailand, Laos, and Burma where opium is heavily grown and traded. Visit Opium Museum later.

Day 4
Chiang Rai - Emerald Buddha Temple - Bangkok - Tranfer Out (B)
After breakfast, visit Emerald Buddha Temple. Then take a domestic flight to Bangkok. Transfer out.
